Historical Sights
The patron saint of Sevid is St. Vid, to whom the locals built a church, the ruins of which are still preserved. In the bay of Stari Trogir, no more than 2 km from the center of Sevid, are the remains of the Roman Villa Rustica, which in Roman times served as a resort and marina. Rt Planka is the most famous part of the coast. The Church of St. Ante stands in honor of all the sailors who died here. The most important island near Sevid is St. Archangel’s, with the church and monastery of the same name. The nearby towns of Trogir, Split and Sibenik are rich in monuments of Croatia’s rich history. Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the historic town of Trogir and the Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik have also been recognized by UNESCO and included on the World Heritage List.
